How to Run a Virus Scan on TurnupHosting

To run a virus scan on TurnupHosting, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account. If you're not sure how to do this, please refer to the documentation provided by TurnupHosting.

  2. Once logged in, locate the Virus Scanner tool. The location of this tool may vary depending on the theme you are using. cPanel - Advanced - Virus Scanner icon

  3. Under the "Start a New Scan" section, select the directory you want to scan. TurnupHosting offers the following options:

    • Scan Mail: This option scans the mail directory in your account, checking for viruses in incoming and outgoing email messages. Use this option if one of your recipients reports receiving a virus from you.

    • Scan Entire Home Directory: This option scans all the files in your account.

    • Scan Public Web Space: This option scans the public_html directory in your account, looking for infected website files. It is recommended to run this scan frequently to check for known viruses in your website files.

    • Scan Public FTP Space: This option scans the public_ftp directory in your account, searching for infected files. Only run this scan if you share files using FTP.

  4. Once you have selected the desired directory, click on the "Scan Now" button to start the virus scan. Please note that if there are a large number of files in the directory, the scan may take some time to complete.

  5. After the scan is complete, the virus scanner will display the results. If any infected files are found, you will have the option to choose what to do with them:

    • Quarantine: This option moves the infected file to a quarantine directory. The location of the quarantine directory will be specified by TurnupHosting.

    • Destroy: This option deletes the infected file.

    • Ignore: This option leaves the infected file unchanged.

  6. To complete the virus scan process, click on the "Process Cleanup" button.

Running regular virus scans on your TurnupHosting account is essential to ensure the security of your files and protect against potential threats.
