Migrating cPanel accounts from reseller hosting to shared hosting

To move web site content from subaccounts to a primary cPanel account, follow these steps:

  1. Download Web Site Files:

    • Use an FTP client to download the web site files from each subaccount.
    • Alternatively, you can use the cPanel File Manager, but an FTP client is recommended for ease of use.
    • After downloading the files, upload them to a subdirectory within the public_html directory of your primary cPanel account. Keep track of which directory corresponds to each site.
  2. Export and Import Databases:

    • Export the databases from each subaccount.
    • Import the exported databases into the primary cPanel account.
    • Refer to the relevant articles for instructions on importing and exporting MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
  3. Set Up Domains:

    • Remove addon and parked domains from each subaccount.
    • Add these domains to the primary cPanel account.
    • If a subaccount site is a parked domain, set it up as an addon domain in the primary cPanel account. Specify the document root folder for the domain.
    • If any transferred site has a dedicated IP address, there may be some downtime while it switches over to the IP address of the primary cPanel account. Note that individual cPanel accounts are limited to a single IP address and SSL certificate.
  4. Start the Migration:

    • Once you have consolidated everything into the primary cPanel account, open a support ticket on the Customer Portal at TurnUp Hosting.
    • In the ticket, inform the support team that your reseller account is ready to switch to a shared hosting package.

By following these steps, you can successfully move web site content from subaccounts to a primary cPanel account.
