Using Server Rewind to restore files and database

To ensure data protection and facilitate data restoration, Turnuphosting provides redundant hard drives for real-time RAID 1 mirrored backups on all servers. Additionally, off-server backups are available, with a storage period of 30 days. To restore data from these backups, users can utilize the Server Rewind feature in cPanel.

It is recommended that users also maintain their own backups. However, if users create backups using the cPanel Backup feature, they should avoid saving multiple copies of backups on their hosting account. For more information, users can refer to section 3 of the Terms of Service.

To restore files using Server Rewind, users can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open Server Rewind by clicking on the Server Rewind icon in the Tools page under the Files section.
  3. Select the date that contains the version of the file(s) to be restored.
  4. Navigate to the specific file(s) or directory to be restored.
  5. Select the checkbox next to each file to be restored.
  6. Under Options, choose whether to overwrite existing files with the restored files.
  7. Optionally, specify a different location for the restored files.
  8. Click Restore to initiate the restoration process.

For database restores using Server Rewind, users can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open Server Rewind by clicking on the Server Rewind icon in the Tools page under the Files section.
  3. Click the Restore Databases tab.
  4. Select the date that contains the version of the database to be restored.
  5. Select the database to be restored.
  6. Under Options, choose whether to overwrite the existing database.
  7. Specify the location for the restored database.
  8. Click Restore to initiate the restoration process.

Please note that Server Rewind does not currently support usernames longer than eight characters for database restores. Additionally, Server Rewind cannot restore PostgreSQL databases due to how they store data. It is advisable to create regular backups of PostgreSQL databases independently.
